VERNON — - Firefighters from four
towns are at the scene of a debris fire in a dilapidated, vacant mill in the Rockville
section of town.
The fire at the Roosevelt Mills complex was reported at about 10:25 a.m.
Firefighters quickly brought it under control, but at 11:10 a.m., they still
sporadically sprayed water onto the fourth floor of the reinforced concrete
mill. Route 74 is shut down.
Firefighters from Ellington, Tolland
and Manchester are at the scene assisting Vernon.
Fire officials are investigating.
Brittany Foss, who was staying nearby at 207 East Main Street with a friend,
was awakened by sirens.
